or drop them here — JPG, PNG or WebP

  • Text and logo watermarks — your name, handle, or a transparent PNG mark
  • Tile across the whole image — repeat it so no crop escapes your credit
  • Batch export — mark a folder of photos and download one ZIP, free and in your browser

What Is Watermark Maker?

Watermark Maker is a free, browser-based tool that stamps a text or logo mark onto your photos. You upload an image, place your mark, and download a clean PNG or JPG — usually in under a minute, without opening design software.

Photographers protect proof files with a watermark, sellers use one on product shots, and creators keep their work recognisable when it is shared. This tool gives you the sliders to find the balance.

What You Can Make

  • Photo credits: a corner mark with your name or handle, quiet enough to ignore.
  • Protected proofs: a larger centre mark for images you share before a client buys.
  • Tiled marks: your logo repeated across the frame so a crop cannot remove it.
  • Batch exports: the same mark applied to a whole shoot at once.

How to Add a Watermark

  1. Add your photos. Drag an image onto the canvas or click to choose a file. Add more for a batch — JPG, PNG, and WebP all work.
  2. Write your mark. Switch the type to Text and type your name, handle, or a short phrase. Or switch to Logo and pick a transparent PNG.
  3. Adjust it. Set the size, colour, and opacity, then place the mark — pick one of the nine Quick position cells, or drag it on the canvas. A live preview above the photo shows the mark on its own, and Full preview opens the whole image. A logo also takes a corner radius, a blend mode, and an optional plate or outline. The Background box is on by default so the text reads on any photo; turn on Outline or Shadow if the photo still fights it, or rotate a few degrees.
  4. Tile it (optional). Enable Tile to repeat the mark across the whole image — useful for proofs and stock previews.
  5. Download. Save the current image as a PNG or JPG, or batch-download everything as a ZIP.
  • Text is the fastest option and needs no extra file. Your name or handle in a clean font reads well at small sizes and is easy to keep consistent across a shoot.
  • Logo suits anyone with an existing mark. A transparent PNG keeps the edges crisp, and the scale slider lets you match it to the image. A plate or an outline keeps a pale mark readable on a light photo.

If your logo is a JPG with a white background, it carries that box onto the photo. Export it as a transparent PNG first.

Tiling: Protect the Whole Image

A single corner mark is easy to crop out. Tiling repeats the mark across the frame in a grid, so however the image is cut, some of your mark survives. It is the standard choice for proofs and stock previews.

Keep tiled marks at low opacity — 15–30% is typical: high enough that removing it takes real work, low enough that a buyer can still see the photo.

Placement and Opacity Tips

  • Corners for credits: the bottom-right is where viewers expect a credit. The mark opens at the centre, upright; the nine Quick position cells measure it and keep it fully inside the frame, so moving it to a corner is one tap.
  • Match the background: a dark mark on a bright photo, or the reverse, lets you use lower opacity and still stay visible. On a busy photo, the Background box gives the mark its own surface.
  • Rotate slightly: a few degrees of tilt makes the mark harder to clone out and looks less like a UI overlay.
  • When in doubt, lower the opacity: a watermark should be noticed on the second look, not the first.

Position guides are there while you work only — the outline and thirds lines are drawn on the preview and never reach your download.

Batch Watermarking

Add several files in the Image panel, make your adjustments once, then choose Download all as ZIP in Save. Every image gets the same mark in a single archive — no re-uploading, no re-positioning per photo.

File Formats and Quality

Uploads can be JPG, PNG, or WebP. Downloads are PNG by default, which keeps text edges sharp; JPG is much smaller, with a quality setting. The export keeps your photo's full resolution unless you pick a longest-edge cap (2400, 1600, 1080, or 800 px) — it caps, and never upscales.

Why Use This One

Desktop editors can do this, but you pay for the flexibility: a new canvas, an import, a placed layer, and a separate export per image. Here it is one pass, then a batch.

Online services upload your photos to a server, then put their own mark on free exports. Nothing leaves your device here, and there is no signup, no paywall, and no mark on your result.

FAQs

Can I watermark multiple photos at once?

Yes. Add files to the batch, then choose 'Download all as ZIP' from the Save deck. Everything runs in your browser.

Is this watermark maker free?

Yes. It's completely free to use. No signup, no paywall, and no watermark is added by the tool itself.

Will my images be uploaded?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and the HTML5 Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.

Can I tile the watermark across the whole image?

Yes. In the Watermark deck, enable 'Tile' to repeat the watermark across the entire canvas at the spacing and opacity you choose.

Can I add a background box behind the watermark?

Yes. The text watermark has a Background box, on by default — set its padding and colour, or switch it off. A logo image can take its own background plate, with a separate padding and colour. Both fade with the watermark's opacity.

Can I use a logo image instead of text?

Yes. Switch the watermark type to Logo, pick your image, and set its scale, opacity, corner radius, blend mode, and an optional plate or outline. A transparent PNG works best.

Can I see the watermark before I download?

Yes. A live preview above the photo shows the mark on its own, and the Full preview button opens the whole image at full size so you can check the details. Press F as a shortcut.

What file formats does it support?

You can upload JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Downloads can be PNG or JPG, and a batch exports in the format you pick.

Should I export a JPG or a PNG?

PNG is lossless and keeps text edges sharp, so it is the safe default. JPG is much smaller and has a quality setting — around 90 is a good balance. Use JPG for photo-heavy images, PNG for the crispest text.
